Masao Yagihashi (YAGIHASHI Masao, January 7 , 1952- ) is a scholar of dialects of Modern Greek, especially Modern Greek Cypriot Dialect (also he is specialist of Ancient Greek, Koine Greek, Middle Age Greek) researchers in general (also Latin and Indo-European linguist). Born in Tokyo, Yokohama city living in Kanagawa in Japan.

His Life[edit]

In the childhood at the Catholic Church boys choir (boys chorus corps ROSARY in Matsumoto, Nagano) belongs to, and at that time, due to by convulsion Hungary, the Hungarian father Nemusugui who was instruct to him as like his son the Greek, Latin and Magyar by the basics of poem through the hymn singing. In the period of senior high school, during CHUO UNIVERSITY HIGH SCHOOL, who was received as a private lesson on classical languages (Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Old German, German and English) by the famous scholar Sumio Aoki. At 1970 after graduating year, he admitted to the Tokyo Polytechnic University (formerly "TOKYO PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLEGE," Department of Engineering: the first period of two years at photographic engineering, after discipline's transfer to Graphic Engineering Department in three years), and he received the permission from the Director of the University Dr.Shin'ichi Kikuchi (Photographic Chemistry's scientist and also French scholar ) as his one direct pupil in his life. And at the same time he received private tuition of Latin and Greek from Reverend Father Paul Anouilh (Director of Seminary of Tokyo and the professor of Gakushuin University Graduate School's eminent scholar in Latin, French and Greek, and also the Latin, French and Greek Professor of Athénée Français) and he received private lesson from the Director of Athénée Français, Etsuji Matsumoto (the Ancient Greek, Latin and also French).

After the basic school time, he went to Lefkosia in Cyprus, he received the personal study lesson from Professor Menelaos CHRISTODOULOU (Cypriot greek dialect specialist and Director of Research Center of Cypriot Greek and Director of Monastery KIKKO [ΙΕΡΑ ΜΟΝΗ ΚΥΚΚΟΥ : ΚΕΝΤΡΟΝ ΘΗΣΑΥΡΟΥ ΚΥΠΡΙΑΚΗΣ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗΣ -ΙΣΤΟΡΙΚΟΝ ΛΕΞΙΚΟΝ ΚΥΡΙΑΚΗΣ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗΣ]) and he works on his lifework [fieldwork] of Cypriot Greek Dialect in his life.

He is also received the Highest Linguistic Study in Japan, at the course superlative grade at Linguistic School of Latin and classical Greek in college (Athénée Français) during the last of final graduate school level's the last two years on the said highest level course in the said graduate school's level institute (highest level in Japan on Ancient Greek, Latin and French) in 1974-1975's period, he get per courses.

In addition, through the period of government official in Japan Patent Office, after graduation from Tokyo Polytechnic University, he registered student in Modern Spoken Greek at Berlitz Language School on his Private Study from Professor Nikita Binyaris (Modern Greek linguist) in the following long years as his private teacher and friendship.

At 1975, he obtains graduate of engineering in Photographic chemistry and GRAPHIC ARTS at the Department (Photographic chemistry and Graphic Engineering) from Tokyo Polytechnic University (concerning Professional Photography and Printing technologies, Department of Engineering, but he was graduated from the latter discipline). He was enter in Japanese Government MITI (Ministry International Trade and Industry) as a classification and documentation of patent document for the Documentation division of Japan Patent Office (after he was a examiner of Patent Office and trial examiner of Patent Office. He was also members of the Industrial Property Research Center in Japan Patent Office). And also he has been received by Modern Greek Study from Consul General in Marseille of Japan, Mr Atsuya Suzuki(Chargé d'Affaires in Greece of Japan[1978-1980]). Also, have also received private tuition from Prof.Kinji HIDEMURA.

He worked also as librarian at Library of industrial property research center (KOGYO SHOYUKEN KENKYUSHITSU) as in office [Reference Center of Industrial Property] as a librarian position, and also some business at librarian's branch librarian, that is National Diet Library of Japan's branch, on duty, At Tsurumi University librarian's grade per course. He worked in the field of Greek and Latin, also Italian, French, Copt, German and mainly related THESES of modern Greek and Greek dialects research, and also in patent and/or trademark law and editorial work of engineering-related intellectual property. He studied not only as a language study, but also researchers of Law (intellectual property law ) and also active now. And he was also study the photography by artistic aspect, landscape photography from the famous geographer Prof. JACQUES PEZEU-MASSABUAU (Photography and French). He exhibits, the first time so titled "The railroad" (May 1975 at Mitsubishi Bank Gallery at Kamiooka in Yokohama) and also "Yagihashi Masao exhibition-Last Steam in China" (August 3, 2005 - August 16 the same year), Yagihashi Masao Photography Exhibition: "Last Steam Railroad in China" [February 15, 2006 - February 21 the same year: at Kodak Photo Salon (Gallery 1) at Ginza in Tokyo] and also, "the Light and shadow of the ancient Greek civilization" [April 26, 2007 - May 9 the same year: at Yotsuya Photo Gallery [Sigma Lab. Yotsuya Photo Gallery]]. &c., many also other solo exhibitions.
