Master Ishn Courtar (Sint Eustatius, ca. 2006 ) is a Dutch resident. He has been the Honourable Chairman of Statian Youth Empowerment since 11 December 2022 & Junior Minister.
Ishn was raised in a Christian household by Jennifer Simmons (Ishn’s Mother). Ishn is a staunch member of the Bethel Methodist Church.
Ishn’s passion for music began at the tender age of 3. Ishn began attending the Bethel Methodist School at age 4. While attending there his passion for music grew and later on Ishn began going to attend a vocal coach training program which lasted 6 months. During the course of this program various concerts were held. Ishn performed at these concerts and did exceptional. Upon completion of this program Ishn took an IQ test to which he scored the highest, scoring 98 points.
Ishn competed in the GAIP competition and won. He then competed in the Children’s Gospel Competition and won, upon his victory he travelled to Sint Maarten to represent Statia where there to he won. Ishn then competed again but this time in the senior section and won, he then competed in Sint Maarten for a second time and won in the senior category.
Ishn graduated and began attending the Gwendoline van Putten Secondary School. At this time Ishn began his work with senior citizens, youth and the community at large. Ishn volunteered at the Chapel Piece Recreational Centre where he did exceptional.
Ishn then went on to become the Caribbean’s Youngest Promoter at just 15 years of age. Hosting the a “Pure Black” event. Ishn also started a successful business “Chef Boyadii’s Kitchen 2.0.”
His dedication and commitment to the First Sint Eustatius Boy’s Brigade is a true testament of modest yet humble leadership. Ishn is involved wholeheartedly with the Statian community. Ishn can be seen volunteering at various events , Ishn can be seen singing, speaking or even assisting where needed.
His passion for Statia is amazing. In 2022 Ishn started the Remarkable Teen Award Program. This program is for the sole purpose of promoting youth and their ambitions goals through positive thinking, encouragement and lifestyle development. Ishn is multitalented and aspires to become a future leader of Statia.
