Usage

[edit]

This template is used to create examples of section heading wiki markup in help and similar pages. Fake headings do not appear in the table of contents. They are styled to appear the same as the default heading styles in the Vector skin, and will not be influenced by custom CSS or skins.

Optional parameter anchor may be used, to make the fake section directly addressable from a Wikilink either on the same page, or another page, in order to mimic the capability of [[Help:Link#Section linking|]].

Parameters

[edit]
  • |level= or |sub= is the level number: valid values are 1 through 6. The default is 2 (equivalent of a == Main heading == (level 1 is equivalent to page title).
  • |anchor= is an optional param. If present, it inserts an HTML anchor before the fake heading.
    • If the anchor param has no value, then by default the inserted anchor contains the same value as the section title:
      {{fake heading|sub=2|anchor|Major topic}} generates {{Anchor|Major topic}} before the fake heading.
    • If the anchor param has a value, then the anchor is set to the value given in the parameter:
{{fake heading|sub=3|anchor=dot-com|.com}} generates {{Anchor|dot-com}} followed by a fake section entitled ".com".
  • An unnamed parameter (which can also be specified as |1=) is used for the section title.
