40°38′34″N 74°20′40.71″W / 40.64278°N 74.3446417°W / 40.64278; -74.3446417 A 501(c)3 charity organization based in Westfield, NJ, New Jersey Youth Theatre performs well known works of musical theatre every summer using young actors from the area. The organization also runs a tuition-based school offering classes in acting, dance, musical theatre, and voice. There is also a residency dance program at Hillcrest Academy High Schools.

History

NJYT was founded in 1991 by husband and wife duo Ted Agress and Cynthia Meryl - both veterans of stage and television. Mr. Agress currently serves as the Executive Director, and Ms. Meryl serves as the company's Artistic Director.

NJYT produces its summer programs in cooperation with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and Algonquin Arts Theatre. The NJPAC production is part of their Arts Education program.
