History
[edit]Formation
[edit]The club was formed in 1979 by Peter King who started out with small number of local youngsters in Ridgeway Park. King passed away on Christmas Eve 2014 and the club have stated that they intend to name a trophy in honour of their founder. [1]
Current Club
[edit]From humble beginning the club now fields teams from under 9 through to under 16 and although the Ridgeway is one of the top youth/junior development clubs in North London the essence of the club remains the same. It does not own a pitch or clubhouse and relies solely on dedicated volunteers, who organise and coach more than 150 kids..[2]
Famous Players
[edit]Ex Ridgeway Players who passed through our Club include [David Beckham], Andros Townsend, [Harry Kane] , Nico Yennaris ,Jordan Archer and Dwight Gayle. David Beckham played for the club for two years and scored over 100 goals from the club. Indeed Beckham's dad Ted used to coach his son’s team and still lives round the corner while Troy Townsend, Andros’s dad and still heavily involved in the area’s youth leagues, was a coach during Kane’s time.[3] [4]
