Who I am[edit]

Hello, I'm Mike. I've been contributing to Wikipedia since Jan. 25 2010, so I'm still learning the ropes here, but I'm catching on. At the moment I live in Pittsburgh where I work on and off with the Frick Environmental Center in Frick Park as well as volunteering in the mollusk department of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

What I do for fun[edit]

My interests are varied and constantly changing. One day I'm planning to build a forge, the next, I'm trying to blow glass.
There are some constants. I am a talented guitarist. Primarily I play bluegrass, but I enjoy anything I can play acoustically.
I knit. My favorite things to make are hats, lace and plush mollusks.
I cook. Good food is tasty
Biking is how I think. It is my reflection time, my musical inspiration. There is nothing as fun as biking.
Last but not least, I volunteer in the mollusk collection at CMNH. It's a great place. I pick through leaf litter, sort the collection, recently started editing wikipedia pages, and learn a lot. My latest project has been learning to identify snail.

Where I went to school[edit]

I graduated from SUNY-ESF in Syracuse, NY with a B.S. in Natural History and Interpretation in 2008. Graduate studies are undetermined at the moment,

Where I work[edit]

As I said, I work at the Frick Environmental Center. I help a fantastic, dedicated group with various educational programs. Lately I've helped out with a program called Habitat explorers. It's a collaboration with two elementary schools that border the park. First graders come several times throughout the year and each time they learn about a different habitat in the park.
The FEC employed me as a summer camp planner/ counselor during my summers in college until the summer of 2009 when I was the assistant director of Camp Hoover, a Girl Scout camp in Tully, NY. It was a great summer with great people.
