RemixOurWorld is a humanitarian organization created to help bridge creative artistic expressions with humanitarian projects and needs around the world.[1] The organization is founded and directed by A.J. Mora, a well recognized music producer/DJ artist from Los Angeles California. RemixOurWorld is a registered 501(C) 4 non-profit in the state of Oregon.[2] RemixOurWorld currently has four offices; Los Angeles, California U.S.A., Taipei, Taiwan, San Jose, Costa Rica, and Oahu, Hawaii. The idea originated when a friend of A.J. Mora traveled to Sudan Africa with a missionary group connected with the Free Methodist Church, the denomination where Mora has served since 1998 as pastor for one of its churches in Los Angeles. The news and awareness of the many needs and desperate living conditions of the families in Sudan left a very powerful impression on Mora. After a ten year hiatus from professional work with the DJ and electronic dance music community, Mora had been drawn back to his musical roots in July of 2007. When he decided to make a return he also sought a way to make a connection with his passion for music and new found life mission.
In November of 2007, the RemixOurWorld project SuDance was born. This first project was created to bridge the needs of a suffering people in Sudan Africa with the resources of the global dance music community. DJs from all over the world, artists and producers have donated their time and talent to play at events and/or create music projects in which 100% of the proceeds go to "Remixing the lives of the people of Sudan".[3]All of the money needed to cover production costs and expenses, including administration for RemixOurWorld, is donated separately to allow of the proceeds from the events to be given entirely to the projects being targeted.[4] This creative connection helps raise awareness and funds for various needs and specific sustainable projects that have been established in southern Sudan with RemixOurWorld partners for that region, Empowering Lives International. By producing music festivals, local dance club events and music compilations, the electronic dance music community is given the opportunity to give back.
RemixOurWorld.org is now working closely with various humanitarian efforts around the globe and establishing a network synergy of relationships that bring aid and awareness to authentic and fiscally sound projects for the poor and disenfranchised. RemixOurWorld.org believes in cultivating an environment for Healing, Peace and Hope. Many philanthropists have joined RemixOurWorld to help with tangible resources for their efforts.[5]
