YOU-ON-TV.COM is the original online video portal developed by Michael Lee Goetz, sr. in the mid 1990's.... roughly a decade before youtube. The site was the home of the first online tv show, and some of the worlds first LIVE webcast (8/97). It has been in continues use for nearly 20 years.

BACKGROUND: YOU-ON-TV.COM was the brainchild of Mr. Goetz after spending years fighting to keep his show THE HOMETOWN on cable tv in his hometown of Carrollton, Texas.

THE HOMETOWN: It began as a 1/2 hour weekly cable access show and eventually became a 2 hour show airing 4x/day - 7/day wk. The first episode aired in February 1992 on a Thursday night on Storer cable ch 15 at 6:30 pm. The primary focus was local events, but it soon became controversial. After investigative reports on corruption at city hall, the show was pulled off the air in 1993. Although it did eventually get put back on, it did miss 289 scheduled air times. The struggle inspired Mr. Goetz to use the internet to keep the show going.... eventually leading to the development of YOU-ON-TV.COM. BIO: Michael Lee Goetz, sr. was born on September 11, 1963 in Galveston Texas. Although he lived in Houston, most of his childhood was in a suburb of the North Dallas area called Carrollton, Texas. Mr. Goetz was married and joined the Air Force in October 1980. He returned back to his hometown after 10 years in the military. It was then that he decided to start his public access tv show called THE HOMETOWN.... and eventually you-on-tv,com.
