Mohd Younus Bhat was born in the small village of Batwina District Ganderbal of Jammu and Kashmir, India. He was born into a middle-class family, with his father Ghulam Mohd Bhat and mother Raja Bano. He had three brothers and two sisters.
Younus had a passion for education from a very young age, and he studied at Muslim Salafia School until the 6th grade. He was a hardworking student and always scored good grades. In the 6th grade, he appeared for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya exam and was thrilled to find out that he had cracked it.
Younus was ecstatic to get the opportunity to study at JNV Ratiabad Bhopal, one of the premier JNV schools in India as part of cultural exchange program from Govt. of India. He moved to Bhopal and began his studies there in the 9th grade. He was initially homesick and missed his family, but he quickly adapted to his new surroundings and made many new friends.
Younus was an excellent student and was very active in extracurricular activities as well. He participated in various competitions and won many prizes for his school. He was particularly interested in sports and represented his school in many inter-school tournaments.
After completing his 10th grade, He scored excellent grades in his Masters exams and was offered a fellowship to pursue his higher education.
Studying geology and chemistry at Sri Pratap College would have given Younus a solid foundation in the physical sciences, which would have been useful for his later studies in applied geology and isotope geochemistry. Winning essay writing competitions in both English and Urdu suggests that Younus is also a skilled communicator, which is an important skill in any field.
Qualifying for the CSIR-NET/JRF is a notable achievement, as this is a highly competitive exam that tests candidates' knowledge and aptitude for research. Winning a gold medal for his master's degree in applied geology at the University of Kashmir is also an impressive accomplishment.
Finally, pursuing a doctorate degree in isotope geochemistry at the University of Pondicherry shows that Younus is committed to advancing his knowledge and expertise in his field.
