Idea for Production :
[edit]The thought for the film initially came to Baumbach in 2016, while in after creation on The Meyerowitz Stories. He started to inquire about the subject, and met with three-time colleague Driver to talk about the job.
In November 2017, it was declared Driver, Scarlett Johansson, Laura Dern, Merritt Wever and Azhy Robertson were set to star in the film. David Heyman delivered the film under his Heyday Films banner, and Netflix created and circulated. In March 2018, Kyle Bornheimer joined the cast of the movie and in June 2018, it was declared that Ray Liotta had additionally been included.
