About Me[edit]

I have been a research librarian for 40 years. My main interest in my career have been in exploring the difference between knowledge and belief and opinion. What do we know, and how do we know it as opposed to what do we believe. Basically, we know things that we know from using reason and logic and from experience.

In that regard, then, I have always been much interested in the recognition and identification of fallacies in argument and debate.

I have also been interested in ageing and nutrition and quality of life. Because of my interest in empirical knowledge and in health-related matters, I have long been interested in reading the results of randomized controlled clinical trials. The interest in clinical research has led to my reading about the absorption, safety, and efficacy of Coenzyme Q10 supplements. This has developed into a passionate interest. I even wrote a book about it called "The History of Coenzyme Q10 Research[1]".

Education and Career[edit]

I have earned a B.A. from the University of Maryland, an M.S. from the University of Southern California, an M.L.S. from Indiana University, and an Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

Among other employments, I have worked for many years in the Reference Department of the Main Library at the University of Massachusetts, and, for the past many years, I have worked in a branch library of the Lake-Sumter State College in Florida.
