Flo Amess
[edit]Florence Rebecca Amess (born 26/09/1991) Female footballer who currently plays for West Ham United LFC. [1] Youngest child of Tory MP David Amess.
Early Years
[edit]Despite not yet being legally old enough to play first team football 'Flo' has already achieved a great deal in her young career. Essex County league titles in '03 and '04 for her local club side plus runners up medals in the the league and cup in '05 added to her brace in the '05 semi final of the Coca Cola schools cup for St. Bernards at St. Mary's [2] and an eye catching display in the final at Villa Park [3] brought her to the attention of the much revered Arsenal Ladies Centre of Excellence. Despite a successful first season with the gunners, Flo returned to her families roots and signed for West Ham United LFC at the start of the 06/07 campaign. After an excellent start to the season [4] Flo was called up to represent her county Essex. Essex went on to win the Victoria Dodds Trophy, putting an end to Kent's recent domination of the competition. West Ham United LFC U 16's completed the League and Cup double in '07 and Flo was rewarded for her contribution with the Player of the Season Runner Up award. First team manager Tony Marshall heaped praise on the youngster in his Cup Final programme notes: Flo Amess 'Christiano' - 'Flo has been a revelation this year, her skill, pace and crossing ability has ripped teams apart, probably responsible for 50% of the teams assists she has also managed nearly thirty goals of her own. Flo is a tireless worker who never stops running and will progress to the first team next season'.
The Future
[edit]Genuinely two footed, a player who is at her best when running at defenders. Equally at home on either wing, Flo is at her best when playing in the classic number 10 role. 2007 will see her become eligible for first team selection, great things are expected.
