Travels in the Interior of North America

As a result of Prince Maximilian Wied-Neuwied's second expedition, the ethnographic book Reise in das innere Nord-America in den Jahren 1832 bis 1834 was created to capture the different Native Indian tribes of North America. The expeidtion journeyed across the Greater Plains of North America and the Missouri River to capture the The book would later be published in English and French between the years 1840-1843.

The book by Prince Maximilian Wied-Neuwied was published in Germany in 1839 as a 2 volume account of his records and included Karl Bodmer's 81 illustrations and paintings. They were transfered into aquatint copperplate engravings to accompany the book as an atlas.

The atlas includes a colored map of the route in North America. Furthermore, 48 of the 81 copperlate engravings are large tableus, while the remaining 33 are smaller vignettes.

It would later be published in French and later in English titled, Travels in tbe Interior of North America.
