History[edit]

In 1825, Alexandre Fichet, a brilliant engineer and designer, founded "a company to protect good and valuable against burglary": the Fichet company, which was then only a locksmith workshop. Born in Étrépilly (Seine-et-Marne) on February 6, 1799 (and died in 1862), he was a famous locksmith in Paris. His fame was such that he supplied the crown. He was a member of the Academy of Industry and locksmith of the Royal Library. Therefore, he was recognized by his multiple patents decisive for modern locksmithing.

At the same time, a manufacturer of refractory products, Auguste Nicolas Bauche, made a decisive breakthrough in the protection of the contents of a safe against fire, by devising the first non-combustible and fire resistant safe. In 1864, he founded his own company, the Bauche Company, which benefited from his success and the reputation he had built up.

The success of Fichet's patents led to the company's expansion, and in 1897, the factory in Oust-Marest, called "Fichet-Village" was built. But the company's growth did not stop there and as early as 1919, foreign subsidiaries were created.

On July 1, 1967, Bauche and Fichet merged, combining two well-known names and two security sectors. The world's first global security group was formed: the Fichet Bauche Group.

In April 1999, Gunnebo (which specializes in physical and electronic protection) acquires the Fichet Bauche Group.

On December 3, 2018, the entities Fichet Security Solutions France, Belgium, and Luxembourg were combined to become Fichet Group confirming a position as a high-risk referent and a desire to accompany a market marked by accelerated innovation cycles. This name change follows the acquisition of the group's French, Belgian and Luxembourg subsidiaries by the investment fund OpenGate Capital.
