Ethics[edit]

Consent[edit]

During each step of a psychiatry assessment, the client should give their consent before proceeding any further in the evaluation.[1] However, if the client is lacking the ability or competence to give consent than the psychiatrist must follow the laws of the jurisdiction.[1] There may be times where getting ones consent would not apply, such as having a court order to evaluate a persons competency in order to testify in court.[1]
