FKL - a factory of rolling bearings and cardan shafts located in Temerin[1], Serbia.[2] FKL is a unique factory of bearings and cardan shafts in Serbia and accross the countries of the former Yugoslavia.
History
[edit]- On November 18, 1961 an enterprise under the name „Metal-Turning Service and Production Crafts Cooperative” - „METALUM”, was established, with the aim of producing parts for vehicles and tractors, and performing all services in the field of metal-turning.
- On February 3, 1965 the name was changed to „Factory of roller bearings and cardan shafts, Temerin” or abbreviated „FKL”. From this point on, the main direction of the factory's production becomes the manufacture of bearings. It was the begining of active development of the core business, the processes of turning, heat treatment, grinding and assembling of bearings are introduced. The company also becomes involved in repair, maintenance and testing of bearings.
- Since 1975 the factory is fully dedicated to the production of bearings and cardan shafts.
- Between 1980 - 1990 the factory underwent rapid development and acquired new, state of the art equipment . During this period, multi-spindle machines as well as CNC turning and grinding machines were purchased.
- In 1986 the factory was transferred to a new production facility in the Temerin industrial zone[3], where two modern production plants were built, with a total area of 25000 m².
- From 1987 to 1988 „AICHELIN” furnace, dedicated line for the heat treatment of rings was procured and put into operation.
- In 1990 FKL was transformed into a joint stock company.
- In 2009 the privatization process was initiated.[4]
- In 2015, the privatization process was successfully completed. Today, FKL is a 100% privately owned company.
- In 2017, FKL became the main supplier of bearings for the combine factory „Combine harvester factory Rostselmash, Llc“, Russia.
- In 2018, the legal status of FKL changes from joint-stock company to a limited liability company (LLC).
FKL today
[edit]FKL is a factory specialized in the production of bearings and bearing units for agricultural machinery. It is one of the few bearing factories with a full bearing production cycle, including turning, heat treatment, cage manufacture, grinding, lapping and bearing assembly.[5] The factory has about 700 employees[6] and 90% of its products are exported to the world market, mostly to EU countries, Russia, Ukraine, USA, New Zealand, Turkey and Egypt The FKL production program includes more than 5000 variations of bearings of different types, purpose and characteristics. The factory is certified to ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015, BS OHSAS 18001: 2007. FKL is constantly developing new products, improving technological processes and all its resources. Furthermore, it cooperates with the Municipality of Temerin, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the „Lukijan Musicki” High School where, under the dual education scheme, students are trained and qualify to become „metal processing operators”[7]. FKL also participates in the „Tempus” project in cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade[8], and a manual titled „Processing Technology and Machining Systems for Turning and Grinding" was published in collaboration with professors of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad[9].
