Elliot Cecil Grainge (born 6 November 1993) is a British record executive. He is the CEO of 10K Projects, a record label he founded in 2016.[1] The label has signed successful recording artists including Trippie Redd, 6ix9ine, Iann Dior, and Ice Spice.[1][2] He is the son of record executive Lucian Grainge and is married to social media personality and model Sofia Richie.[3]

Early life and education

[edit]

Grainge was raised in the United Kingdom. He is the son of Lucian Grainge, and his first wife, Samantha Berg and was raised Jewish.[4] His father is CEO of Universal Music Group, and he grew up as a music industry insider.[1] Grainge moved to the United States in 2009.[5]

He attended Northeastern University in Boston.[3] As a student, Grainge ran a bottle service club promotion business for dance and hip hop venues in Boston.[1] After graduating from Northeastern with a bachelor's degree,[3] Grainge moved to Los Angeles, where his family lived.[1]

Career

[edit]

Grainge started the independent record label 10K Projects in 2016 in Los Angeles.[6] His label has signed musicians such as rappers Iann Dior,[2] Trippie Redd, and Tekashi 6ix9ine, as well as the beach pop band Surfaces.[1] Grainge discovered some of the artists for his label on SoundCloud; he has called the online distribution platform a "cheat sheet" for finding new talent. Artists signed to Grainge's 10K Projects are distributed by Universal Music Group's Caroline Records.[1]

In October 2019, Grainge's 10K Projects entered a joint venture deal with music producer Taz Taylor's creative collective Internet Money Records.[7] It formed 10K Together, a charitable division of 10K Projects focused on donating to racial justice charities and black-owned businesses, in June 2020.[8] Grainge's company acquired music label Homemade Projects in February 2022.[9]

As of December 2019, his label's artists have received 18 gold and 8 platinum/multi platinum singles.[1][3]

On August 1, 2024, it was announced that as of October 1, 2024, Grainge would be appointed the CEO of Atlantic Music Group, the parent label of Atlantic Records, replacing Julie Greenwald.[10][11]

Personal life

[edit]

On 20 April, 2022, Grainge became engaged to social media personality and model Sofia Richie. They were married on 22 April 2023 in the South of France.[3]

In January 2024, Richie announced that she and Grainge are expecting their first child and revealed that it was a girl. Their daughter Eloise Samantha Grainge was born on May 20, 2024.
