Central Victoria Football League (CVFL)
[edit]The Central Victoria Football League (CVFL) was established in 2018 with the Senior Womens Football being the only division within the league.
Prior to the commencement of the league, AFL Central Victoria and AFL Goulburn Murray combined to start a Senior Womens Football league in 2017 which was called Northern Country Womens League (NCWL). The teams from Central Victoria who competed in the NCWL were Bendigo Thunder, Kerang, Kyneton and North Bendigo.
Bendigo Thunder, Kangaroo Flat, Kyneton, North Bendigo and Strathfieldsaye were the inaugural clubs within CVFL in 2018. Eaglehawk and Golden Square followed in 2019 while Kerang were introduced in 2021. As the league continues to grow and develop the Castlemaine FNC entered in 2022. Woorinen have progressed their program from Under 18's in the BJFL to Senior Womens in 2023.
In 2022, the Central Victoria Football League expanded to Under 14 Girls in the Northern Areas of Central Victoria with 6 clubs competing in a 6 week competition. Those clubs were Birchip-Watchem, Kerang, St. Arnaud, Swan Hill, Tyn Tynder and Woorinen. For 2023 the competition will expand to Under 12 and Under 15 for the girls.
In 2023, the Central Victoria Football League will offer an Under 18 Boys competition within the league structure. The clubs involved are Pyramid Hill, East Loddon, Marong, Inglewood and Bridgewater.
For the 2023 season, the CVFL offered the following divisions; Senior Women, Under 18 Boys, Under 15 Girls and Under 12 Girls.
The CVFL is administered and governed by the AFL Central Victorian Commission who appoint an Advisory Committee to oversee the management of the league. [1]
