Nelon Gerrard is a Ugandan with Asian decents from the Western Town of Fort Portal Municipality. Nelon is currently a media personality with 89.4 Better FM in Fort Portal since March 2012 as a Presenter and Music Director. He has established himself as the crowds favorite especially to the youth who mostly regard him as their role model at his early age. He however says,"I don't like the idea of having Role Models because I know each one was created to be them, unique from anyone else. It spoils us when we look up to other people and want to become like them. It makes you sit on your potential and depend on that particular person. And what happens when they die".
In 2012, Nelon and Kisaamo Shammy founded Icons Society, a youth organisation tapping Talent Development, HIV/AIDS Awareness, and other youth aspects.
In May, 2013; Nelon's first movie, The blockbuster "ROBBEN" was released and was an instant hit in Uganda. He is currently the Spokesperson/PRO of the movie industry in Fort Portal.
EARLY DAYS Nelon was born to a Catholic mother and a moslem dad but grew in a catholic background much as he was Islamic. He was a member of the Childhood Church Choir at St. Jude Tadeo's Church in Katentebere, her mother's village throughout his primary school level and was a great Kinyege dancer; a Tooro Cultural Dance.
In 2003 after successfully completing his primary education, he joined St. Leo's College Kyegobe (SLECK) for his secondary school where he was reunited to his Islamic background due to peer influence. Nelon was popular in school and often times considered stubborn but a reserved and humble boy back home.
When Nelon completed his Secondary and went to Kampala, the Uganda Capital for his high school, his life changed. "I realised that was a whole different person and decided to get back to my roots. I stood firm on Catholic grounds which i felt at heart and chose my then new name for myself; "NELON" He didn't grow up with his father and says he doesn't know anything like a father's love. Nelon struggled with life with the care of a single mum, Margret Kaahwa and three siblings; Tahiyah " Kakyo Maria Clara"
