If you are concerned about POV or agenda, I will attempt to do as many publications do and disclose various interests:
Known General Conflicts
[edit]1) I follow many public companies and may trade securities creating financial conflicts,
2) I have and seek income from various sources that could be influenced by publicity,
3) I strongly believe in intellectual independence as well as the availability of other components of an enabling environment. This includes but is not limited to expression, guns, and religion.
4) I personally find many scientific arguments to be stated with excessive confidence, beyond that supported by data, and consider this to be a large limitation to progress and problem solution.
Current crusades
[edit]1) Getting Dendreon to do more scientific analysis of its product candidate,
2) More information and transparency in all aspects of life and business,
3) Making sure that contrary or qualifying information is presented where it may pose a mental stumbling block to progress in a given area. Anything "too obvious to be wrong" is a good place to look.
3a) Getting people to recognize that "damage must be bad" is misleading when applied to oxidative damage and the presumed power of anti-oxidants. Note effects of beta-carotine in cancer trials and likely effects of citrate on cancer that may cause the anecdotes about citrus fruit that had been assumed to be cause by the anti-oxidant vitamin-C. ROS signalling is just becoming widely known.
Likely Enemies
[edit]I'm not a mind reader nor paraonoid but it is possible any of the following groups of people may not like me much:
1) Real Estate folks,
2) Bankers,
3) Marijuana growers,
4) Evolutionists and some Creationists,
5) Most public companies LOL.
6) Most liberals
7) modern day Pharisees.
