Nicholas Zane (born November 20, 2001) is a Hong Kong born American scholar of Judaism and student currently studying at Dartmouth College.[1] Zane's pen-name is Nicholas Zhang for political reasons. He is known for his research in the field of Chinese Jewry, best known as the author of Jews in China: A History of Struggle, a book he self published at the age of 16.[2][3] Zane also founded the website chinesejews, a student-led organisation aimed at spreading the legacy of the Chinese Jews,[4] and has been invited to speak in many universities, including Oxford University (Jewish Society of Oxford, the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, and the Council of Christians and Jews), University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth College, and Sias University.[5][6][7][8]

Biography

Zane was born in Hong Kong on November 20, 2001. He went to Singapore International School (Hong Kong) until the age of 13, when went to Lancing College, a co-education boarding school in southern England.[9] After three years, Zane transferred to St. Clare's, Oxford, an International Baccalaureate sixth form college in Oxfordshire.[10][11]

Zane is planning to pursue a B.A. in economics and jewish studies at Dartmouth College.
