His activism led to his imprisonment from October 8, 1972, to December 20, 1972, and again for a month starting January 25, 1974. During the Emergency period in India, he was targeted under the Defense of India Rules (DIR). Jodhan was born on 2nd April at village Jodhan District Ludhiana in the state of Punjab. He has three brothers and two sisters. His father’s name is Sh. Dev Raj. His wife name is Smt. Jasbir Kaur. He has two Children Navdeep Jodhan and Amandeep Kaur. Izarra Jodhan is his grand daughter.

Tarsem Jodhan was associated with Communist Party of India (Marxist) till 2001. Currently, he is not a member of any political party
