Savor de Ladino is a music band based in Malmö, Sweden, and performing a new repertoire in the Judeo-Spanish (or Sephardic) style and in the Ladino language.
Savor de Ladino was established in January 2013 by Yair Sapir, who is also the composer of the whole repertoire and the lyricist of a part of it. The band had its world premiere on June 9th 2013 within the Copenhagen Jewish Festival. It had its first live TV-appearance in the program Lounge on Danish Lorry TV on June 6th 2013 and it was firstly played and interviewed on the radio in Yaron Enosh' program 'Kol Shishi' ('Voice of/Every Friday') on Israeli state channel 2 (Reshet Bet) on May 31st 2013.
The music was written by Yair Sapir and the lyrics by Yair Sapir, Matilda Koén-Sarano. Some are traditionl..The music is inspired by traditional Sephardic folk music - romances, kantigas and koplas with its great variation including influences from Turkish, Greek, Balkan and oriental folk music genres. The lyrics are profane as well as sacral and are likewise based on traditional Sephardic songs from the Balkans, Greece and Turkey from the period prior to the World War II.
The members of the band are Sandra Marielle (lead song), Tobias Allvin (bouzouki, mandolin), Zafer Demir (percussion), Christopher Fossto (guitar), Johan Olsson (accordion) Anna Thorstensson (cello).
