AWANG TEH LEAN ONG ( 郑连旺 ); born 07 October 1976) is a Malaysian politician who is a running candidate for the upcoming PRU15 Election 2023. He served as the running candidate of DUN for Pakatan Harapan (PH) .
Awang Teh Lean Ong (born 7 October 1976) is a Malaysian politician and public servant. He is currently a running candidate for the position of Congressman. Awang was born in Alor Setar, Kedah. He is married to Pang Boon Heang and they have two children, Teh Chia Hui and Teh Jia Jia.
Awang completed his education with a Bachelor of General Engineering at the University of Technology Malaysia, where he achieved a CGPA of over 3.5. Prior to that, he obtained a Diploma in Engineering from AM Politeknik Port Dickson, with a pointer score of over 3.7.
In terms of political experience, Awang has been actively involved with the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) party. From 2014 to 2018, he served as the Secretary of the PKR Branch in Kulim Bandar Baharu. In 2018, he became the Chairman of the PKR Branch in Kulim Bandar Baharu. From 2018 to 2022, Awang served as the Political Secretary to Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the Member of Parliament for Kulim Bandar Baharu. Since 2022, he has held the position of Treasurer in the PKR State of Kedah.
Apart from his political involvement, Awang has also been dedicated to serving the community. He served as the Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SMK Chio Min from 2017 to the present day. From 2008 to 2022, he held the position of Chairman of the Elephant Chess Association of South Kedah. Additionally, he served as the Chairman of the Xing Yang Association in Kulim, Kedah, from 2017 to 2022. Awang was also a member of the Organizing Committee of Xing Yang Malaysia from 2018 to 2022. Furthermore, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Kew Ong Yeah Organization in Kulim, Kedah, from 2019 to 2022.
Awang Teh Lean Ong's dedication to public service and extensive experience in both politics and community organizations make him a strong candidate for Congress. He is committed to addressing the needs and concerns of his constituents and working towards the betterment of society
