Knitchblack (Khaleefa Mayowa Junaid) was born in Lagos to a Nigerian father and Nigerian mother. He spent his early life living in the community of Maryland. At the age of seven, he would take the cover out of an album's case and create covers for his own imaginary albums including a tracklist with song times before he could even make music. At the age of 15, Khaleefa left his mom and started living in his father's homeland. In his twelve years of schooling, he attended two different schools, in Osun and Lagos city.
