Liqian (骊靬) is a village in the northern province of Gansu in the People's Republic of China[1] It received international press attention in February 2007 when a theory suggesting descendency of the inhabitants from Roman legionaries was investigated[1].

Geography[edit]

The village is located on the edge of the Gobi desert[1][2]. It is rural, the nearest city being 300 kilometres away[1].
