Rania Kim Birch (born 1987), profesionally known as Portrait XO, is an Korean/British/American composer, musician, and artist based in Berlin, Germany.[1] After receiving BFA in Fashion Design and Marketing from London South Bank University she pursued a music career. Kim's music often includes human singing voices (including her own), computer-generated audio samples, and regularly uses high tech tools such as AR, VR and AI in her work.[2] She realesed her debut full-length album Portrait in 2014.[3]
Biography

[edit]Portrait XO was born in 1987 and raised in Los Angeles, California.[1] Since the age of 4 she was taught to play classical piano.[4] She moved to London in 2005 and pursued degree in Fashion Design and Marketing from London South Bank University. During her time in London she was introduced to the word of electronic music and innovative music technology. [4] In 2015 she moved to Berlin, where her career as professional sound artist has taken off.[2] She self-identifies as hybrid artist.[1] Portrait XO has a synaesthesia between taste and sound.[5]
