From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oncomouse911 is the conjunction of Oncomouse, a seminal instance of a corporation patenting life itself, and 911, a number which is interesting for several reasons yet is arguably more outrageous than Oncomouse is, even though it should not be. Joining these two things together, there is a name. It is a name with two notes of history to it, and their juxtaposition, both physical and political and semantic, suggests a degree of meaning which probably is not there, but sure looks like it is. The truth is: Oncomouse911 is just rhetoric. Its meaning is exactly what you give to it. What I like about Oncomouse911 is that it is a name which cries out for meaning. It could be a sad meaning: cancer mixed with a tragic loss of civilian life. It could be a scientific one: modern industrial science and two consecutive odd numbers. It could even be a soteriological one: scientific progress plus the number of the emergency responders.

What Oncomouse911 is not is something outrageous. Outrage is the outing of rage. The rage may be out, but it started out being in. Keep your rage in, not out. I do not bite. In fact, I like to think that I am here to help.
