Gayatri is an Odissi Dancer, Performer, Choreographer, Teacher, Co-founder of International Gurukul and a Full time Software professional. She is devoted to carry forward this beautiful art form of Odissi to the next generation by the blessings of her Guru Jyoti Rout.�

Gayatri's Odissi training started in Delhi with Guru Hare Krishna Behera in 1988 and continued for two years. She started learning from Guru Jyoti Rout in 1999. She had her solo debut performance, Ranga Puja in Sep 2006 with live musicians from Orissa where she excelled in her Abhinaya pieces Geet Govind & Draupadi.

She has performed internationally in various prestigeous festivals including 'Konark Dance & Music Festival 2009', 'National Odissi Dance Festival 2008' and 'San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival 2007'

She has performed in various JKM productions including 'Krishna Lila', 'Om Namah Shivaya', 'Jagannath', 'Ya Devi', 'Buddha', 'Amrit Dhara', 'Cosmic Dance' ,'Avatar' and 'Mystic Goddes's. She has also organized and performed in several fund raising programs like 'CRY', 'Ruchika', 'ISKON', 'OSAAT' , 'EKALA Vidyalaya' & NBC11 Kidsfaire & Annual Gala of Arts 2008.

She has been assisting Guru Jyoti Rout in teaching the artists of Jyoti Kala Mandir for last eight years. In addition she has choreographed and restaged several odissi pieces for the junior & senior artistes of JKM. Her choreographies has own several awards in Bay area.

Gayatri is the co-founder of iGurukul. She is also an active member of the Bay Area Oriya community and she has organized innumerable cultural activities. She has acted and directed plays, folk dances & dance dramas.

She is an engineer with Hewlett Packard, where she has worked for the last 10 years. Mother of Megha and Vanani, she is married to Manoj Joshi and is a resident of Newark CA.
