OpDir is a file manager for Windows. OpDir provides several advanced features for managing files and URL content. The application is currently in open Beta status, allowing users to try the code and provide feedback via an online survey. During this Beta stage, the software is licensed using a proprietary license, however this may change upon full release.

OpDir extends the hierarchical file paradigm to allow content from throughout the system to be gathered into a new OpDir. URLs in the form of text are added to the OpDir as well. Each entry in the OpDir can be augmented with rich text as a comment, and can also be categorized. The mixed file/directory/URL content can be viewed in several ways, including list and tile formats as well as in a detailed view. The OpDir can be searched against a mixture of file/URL name, content and category using normal or regular expressions. Typical GUI features such as drag and drop, mouse select, etc. are included.

In summary, the application provides the following:

  • Container for files and directories spread anywhere on the computer
  • URLs can also be contained
  • Items in the container can be categorized to further organize the content
  • Each content element can be annotated with rich text, including graphics
  • Features to more precisely target searches, including file content and comments
