Thomas Burke is the President & Executive Director of the OPC Foundation. Thomas is commonmly referred to as the Grand Father of OPC, starting the OPC concept in 1994, while working for Rockwell Software. OPC was created as a vendor driven initiative to provide a standard interface for interoperability between devices on the factory floor and first tier visualation applications. OPC initally meant OLE for Process Control, and was an initiative sparked as a taskforce amde up of representatives form Fisher Rosemount, Rockwell Software, Intellution and OPTO22.
