Lieutenant Governor Janet Edna Austin

Janet Edna Austin is a former public servant and a community leader serving as the 30th lieutenant governor of British Columbia[1]. On March 21st, 2018, Janet was named by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau[2]. Before her appointment, she served as the Chair Great Vancouver Board of Trade. Janet Austin has been termed as an “outstanding leader who has dedicated her career to improving the lives of others”[3] She has received various community and corporate awards such as the Business in Vancouver Influential Women in Business Award[4], the Vancouver Board of Trade Community Leadership Award[5], and the Wendy McDonald Diversity Champion Award[6]. As the Lieutenant Governor, she will serve as the queen Elizabeth representative in British Columbia. She joins a league of 24[7] women who have served or are currently serving in the same capacity.
