1.     About Me[edit]

I'm Colleen O'Sullivan. I was born at Lue, spent my early years in Mudgee, and lived most of my life in Sydney. Since 2007 I have lived in Kandos, a country town in the central west of NSW. This is the district where many of my forbears settled. My interests are writing, researching, reading, gardening, entertaining and card-playing.

I am new to Wiki, and am taking it slowly, in order to fit a new learning experience into a busy schedule. It was an error in a Wiki article on Sydney Harbour Bridge that brought me to this place. I have consulted Wiki regularly over the years and have great faith in it as a source of accurate information, so I was determined to learn how to correct the error. I noticed too that the Wiki article on Kandos doesn't do it justice, so I am working to improve that.

2.     Writing and History[edit]

I am a writer, as well as a local and family historian. Several books I have written, about the Kandos area, include Henbury: The Early History of a Country Golf Course; Beneath a Moving Ropeway: Architectural Landmarks of Kandos; Once a Day Dawn; and Streetwise: Finding History on the Streets of Kandos.

In my previous career as a secondary school educator, I wrote books and materials for teachers and students on Multicultural Education, English and English as a second language.

3.     kandoshistory.com[edit]

kandoshistory.com is a blog I created in 2017 to capture and share the history of Kandos and surrounding areas. It also aims to promote Kandos, a town I am fond of, a unique twentieth century town which began as a private village to support a cement industry. Every fortnight I post a blog on a subject of local history, for example 'When Wiki Got It Wrong'[1]. I am currently uploading on the blog (under publications) the fifty plus history articles I wrote for the Mudgee Guardian between 2012 and 2016.
