Nexthink S.A. is a Swiss based computer software company headquartered in Lausanne, producing IT Operations Analytics (ITOA) software that allows the monitoring IT performance, network security, and the implementation of transformation projects across all end-users/endpoints.

Nexthink (the product) uses self-learning and artificial intelligence to construct patterns and IT analytics, which are analyzed in real-time. This allows mapping of all the IT services, how they are being consumed, and how the IT infrastructure is operating from the perspective of the end-users (workers).

The company was founded in 2004 by co-founders Pedro Bados, Vincent Bieri, and Patrick Hertzog. The name Nexthink refers to the founders' desire to use forward thinking, or "Next Thinking," to solve problems in new or different ways.

Company origins

[edit]

The idea behind the Nexthink software occurred in 2004 within the artificial intelligence lab of the EPFL, when then-student and future co-founder Pedro Bados developed a real-time end-user monitoring technology. The company filed for two patents; one for real-time visualization, the other for using artificial intelligence and self-learning to determine abnormal behaviors.

Nexthink was founded shortly after, and two years later in 2006 they received their first customer. Today the company counts approximately 500 customers.

Nexthink software

[edit]

The Nexthink software provides a business with real-time monitoring of end-users, producing IT analytics for network security, ITSM operations and support, and workplace transformation projects. Nexthink maps all the IT services, how they are being consumed, and how the IT infrastructure is operating from the perspective of the end-users (workers), providing visibility and insight into IT operations and security for IT Governance.

The creation of Nexthink came from an advanced research project in artificial intelligence at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.
