Introduction

[edit]

Professor Ahmad Rafique Akhtar was born in 1941. He is the mystic teacher of this century. He remained a university professor for many years, later he decided to teach common people about the core concepts of Islam and Mysticism. He started giving lectures to all over the world about Islam, Mysticism and Philosophy. His followers came from different circles, as everyone having a slightest desire to know God, finally came to Prof. Ahmad Rafique Akhtar’s. Millions of people are learning their lessons from him.

He is known as the teacher of priorities. Professor says: God must be the top priority of intellectual curiosity. Professor didn’t call himself a ‘Sufi’ or ‘Mystic’, rather he says; I am a Muslim and Allah has given me this name.
He says: Allah has given you a choice through rational understanding you can either ‘accept’ or ‘reject’ God. This approach must be based on knowledge and rational inquiry. Knowing God is a rational approach. Anyone who tries to know God through intellect can find him. But this process needs Quran and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Professor emphasizes on Hadith and his mystic ideology is based on Quran and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. He admires people like Junaid of Bagdad , Ali bin Usman Hajveri, Shaykh Abdul Qadir of Jilaan, Shaykh Nizam-uz-deen Aulia, and others.

Professor has been blessed with a unique knowledge known as Ilm-ul-Islma. Through this knowledge, he asks the name of a person and in less than a second he knows you more than yourself. The concept of ‘’karamat’’ is very unique and old in Islam and it is attached to Mystics of Islam. One of the karamaat of Professor Ahmad Rafique Akhtar is ‘Ilm-ul-Isma’. He says; I never exercised this knowledge to gain fame or power, it is a tool to know people so that I can help them to move towards God. Through ilm-ul-isma I can tell a person about his problem in the way of God. Professor says: this knowledge is scientific and based on pure rational inquiry.

When Allah is your top priority, you have to maintain this priority by continuous remembrance of Allah (zikr Allah). Professor advised Zikr to everyone in the form of Tasbeehat. These Tasbehaat are taken from Quran and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH).

The common Tasbeehat Professor offer to everyone are;
Ya Salam Ya Momin Ya Allah
Ya Rehman Ya Raheem Ya Kareem
Ya Wali Ya Naseer

Professor wrote a book on the concept of God in Islam under the name of Muqadama-tul-Quran. This book offers insight to the classic concept of God, how it was distorted in other religions and how Islam maintained this concept. Many of his lectures have been published in Urdu language.

SCHOOL OF THOUGHT

[edit]

Mystic School of thought of Professor Ahmad Rafique Akhtar is based on four pillars.

  1. Priority of Life which must be God (Allah).
  2. To main that Priority, Remembrance of God (Zikr Allah).
  3. Moderation (Ait'daal)
  4. Intellectual Curiosity.

QUOTATIONS

[edit]

Allah is the top priority of the intellectual curiosity.

The top philosophers and scientists of the modern times, they have only passed opinions on God. They haven’t really looked for him.

Eventually you have to solve the core question: is God just a proposition or does He really exist?[1] It’s not all science when we talk of God, but we should be more scientific about Him.

Mysticism is the highest accomplishment in religion but the way it is presented these days is almost a hundred percent wrong[2].
