Annotated Bibliography for my entry into the Caribbean Art page. I will be focusing on expanding the Contemporary Trends in Caribbean Art section with examples of modern artists and their works.

This article gives a fantastic baseline for how the different cultures of the Caribbean have meshed to create the types of art we see today. It then further expands into particular influencers in those different pockets of culture. Such as those that exemplify African heritage, those that depict political tribulations, or just those that question issues of identity and the body. Lastly, this article talks about the constant state of change between young contemporary artists and those wanting to keep major trends and traditions alive.

This article is published on the website of a magazine geared towards artworks, artists, and art venues. I believe the contributors and the readers of this magazine have enough background on the world of art to credibly speak about the subject material. In addition, the article lists four different resources as references for their work, one of which even being an Encyclopedia of Latin American & Caribbean Art. A source I might have to look into myself for my contributions to this Wiki page.

Project:

I believe this article will help me most with gathering a baseline for the different mix of cultures that contribute to art in the Caribbean. It discusses a melting pot of culture and how those cultures have all come together the form the contemporary art that we have today. Furthermore, I believe it will help jumpstart me into researching more specific artists in the Caribbean so that I can provide specific examples of these different cultures being included in what we have today.

This article will help me develop a personal profile for Ebony G. Patterson as an influential artist in the Caribbean. It discusses her background as well as her reach in modern contemporary arts.

I hope to provide insight into the world of contemporary art in the caribbean with this article, it discusses the struggles they have faced as an independent region of culture and shedding light on their unique region and situation would help their cause.
