Renato Grome's work explores the many facets of reality, truth and personal identity, often from the perspective of an outsider looking in.
He describes his use of the medium of photography, as a way in which to investigate multiple truths and multiple perceptions:
'I look at the world surrounding me with an out-of-body-vision, as though my eyes are outside their sockets, outside of my head, with a 360º vision.
[2]
In Grome’s photography, the world is fractured into prisms or distorted by the curves of a crystal, giving subtle nods to Cubism, Surrealism and Futurism. [3]n order to fully express his artistic vision, Renato Grome endeavours to develop new techniques for each new series he produces; some works being made through the usage of an analogue medium format cameras, others taken using a toy digital camera and some involve custom made pin-hole cameras, or the construction of custom-made rigs.
