{{UserboxCOI|1=Madras of the United States Virgin Islands}}

[edit]

Many Caribbean islands have their own Madras (cloth) pattern that is worn for celebrations and official events. For many years the United States Virgin Islands did not have their own, however as of 2021 an official madras has been officially designated. Designed by Debbie Sun, a textile designer from the island of Saint Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the project was a collaboration between her, The St. Croix Heritage Dancers, and the Christiansted Community Alliance. The Legislature of the Virgin Islands approved the design, and Governor Albert Bryan (politician) signed it into law in January 2021.
