My definite purpose in joining to Wikipedia is to give citations in order to improve any article that I encounter, in accordance to Wikipedia policies.

The readers need to be assured that the material within it is reliable. The purpose of citing sources are to improve the overall credibility and authoritative nature of Wikipedia, to credit a source for providing useful material and to avoid claims of plagiarism, to show that the edit is not original research, to ensure that the content of articles is credible and can be checked by any reader or editor, to help users find additional information on the topic, and to reduce the likelihood of editorial disputes, or to resolve any that arise.

Again, the threshold for inclusion for any information in Wikipedia in any is verifiability, not truth. "Verifiable" in this context means that readers should be able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source. Editors should provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is challenged or is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Articles should rely on reliable, third-party published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. Sources should be appropriate to the claims made. Please see the definitions of verifiability and citing sources
