Human mutilations

[edit]

It has been claimed that human bodies have been found bearing the same physical signs as mutilated cattle. Based on apparent similarities between these claimed mutilations, and speculation on the motives of those carrying them out, such claims have become fringe elements of a number of cattle mutilation hypothesis, including the Alien and Cult hypothesis.

Alleged cases of human mutilations usually include the removal of the eyes, genitals and rectum. Some include apparently surgical "procedures" to the neck, jaw and upper tracts. They do not normally include the removal of soft internal organs from the lower body.

Spanish[1] UFO investigator Encarnacion Zapata Garcia, who resides in Brazil, claims to have found evidence of the phenomena's existence. American Ufologist John Lear claims that it is part of a wider Alien-Government conspiracy[2].

A commonly cited case of alleged human mutilation is that of Air Force Sgt. Jonathan P. Lovette, which was purportedly documented as part of Project Grudge (Report number 13). Proponents claim that Lovette was abducted from White Sands Missile Range by a UFO in March 1956, and that his body was discovered three days later having been mutilated in an identical manner to a mutilated cow. Also commonly cited is the case of an unidentified body found at Guarapiranga Reservoir in Brazil [3] in September 1988, which had been mutilated in a similar manner.

Reports of human mutilations are far less common than cattle mutilation, and are often typified by one or more factors that make them difficult to verify, including that:

  • The names of alleged mutilation victims are withheld by/are unknown to those reporting them
  • The names of medical experts who witnessed the bodies are withheld by/are unknown to those reporting them
  • The mutilations are from periods of intense cold war secrecy from which records are hard to come by/incomplete
  • They take place in/around secured areas such as military bases
  • They occurred in countries other than the United States

Official concern over the possibility of links between cattle mutilations and attacks on humans lead to an ATF investigation of cattle mutilation in 1975[4] (see Cults for more information), but the alleged phenomena was not a substantial component of an FBI investigation carried out four years later. Alleged links were also the subject of a number of hoaxes during the 1970s [5].

The belief in human mutilations roughly follows the belief in Alien abduction and may have similar roots.
