Rescuing a Stray Cat[edit]

In January 2021, I was taking a walk outside when I noticed a stray cat that was sleeping in my driveway. I tried to approach the cat, which led to her getting spooked and running away. After that day, I started to leave some cat food on my front porch in hopes of gaining the cats trust. After a week of feeding the stray cat, I had gained her trust enough to be able to approach her.

As soon as she understood that I wasn't going to hurt her she climbed into my lap and begged to be pet. I decided to start taking care of her and I chose to name her Luci. Everything seemed to be going well and Luci was getting used to my family and my other cat. However, I noticed that Luci seemed to be gaining a lot of weight considering her small body type.

After a visit to the vet, we found out that Luci was going to have kittens! Overall, this was good news because we were thankful to have found her before she gave birth to her kittens. However, I was a bit overwhelmed because I've never taken care of a pregnant cat before.

In May, Luci gave birth to 5 kittens which was definitely a handful! My house was hectic for the next few months, but we were able to find forever homes for each of the kittens once they reached 8 weeks old.
