Page Suggestion: Wetlands Policy in the United States
Overview of No Net Loss: Where it came from, who supported, etc
Effects (+ and -) of the No Net Loss policy.

Topic: Overview of Wetlands in the US Page[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wetlands_of_the_United_States This article is tagged as being potentially confusing or misleading to visitors, so it would be a fantastic target for this project. It has a small number of citations (only 5). It also throws a lot of numbers and figures at the reader, mostly acreages of different wetlands, without providing much “basic” information. The introductory paragraphs are poorly written in comparison to the universal Wetland article. With only three small photographs, the visual appeal of the page can be enhanced with diagrams of how wetlands work and maps of their locations.

Edits Made So Far:[edit]

Edit #3 Endah: Adding the reference in the first paragraph.
Edit #3 Endah: Adding the wetland function and its reference.
Edit #1 Kristen: Added information on no net loss policy
Edit #2 Kristen: Added information on swampbuster program
Edit #3 Kristen: Added additional services wetlands provide and reference link
Edit #4 Kristen: Added new section on wetland loss
Edit #5 Kristen: Added information on wetland loss and reference link (I also have some more information that we can add to this section)
Scott: Removed broken link to Wetland Vegetation
Scott: Added intext link to No Net Loss Wetlands policy
Scott: Removed link for Camouflage, as the linked page has nothing to do with "political camouflage"
Scott: Reworded Sentence to be more general instead of specific to one wetland
Scott: Reworded confusing sentence to: Wetlands can be valued in terms of their contributions to ecological, economic and ....

Topic: Wetland Law Page: No Page Exists Yet[edit]

Various laws that govern wetlands (legislative) Acts and presidential directives/exc orders Court Decisions http://www.wetlandresearch.com/wiki/index.php?title=Wetland_Law Improve the descriptions of the various Wetland Law entries from one or two sentences to a more robust description. Perhaps use the Wetlands Wiki site links to help update main wikipedia wetland law entry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_net_loss_%28wetlands%29 No Net loss is a small, and frankly pointless, addendum to the Wetlands in the United States policy page. It could and should be merged with the Wetlands in the US page for brevity and because the policy itself is instrumental in how the country resolves disputes around wetlands.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coastal_Wetlands_Planning,_Protection_and_Restoration_Act. This is a relevant policy article the focuses on a congressional act and its implementation. The areas covered under the act are limited to coastal areas like estuaries. The majority of this page consists of lists and bullet points, and very little explanatory information. There is a compressive set of links to projects covered under this act. There are only 6 references for this page, which could easily be expanded. This article should be merged with the Wetlands of the United States page for a more comprehensive entry.

Topic: Artificial Wetland construction Page[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_wetland

Looks fairly complete. We should proofread for instances of misleading information, check for broken and dead links, and try to simplify any complicated language down to the 3rd grade reading level.

Topic: Wetland Conservation Page[edit]

-How to we value wetlands economically: Existence value, option value, -Birding: Economically

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wetland_conservation This article is the primary one that exists on Wikipedia covering “why” wetlands are conserved, and delves somewhat into the specifics of filtration and flood control. Its weaknesses are visuals and photographs, the introductory paragraph and area, and specifics on policies and procedures used to conserve wetlands. There are other articles on wiki that also touch on the subject, so perhaps some merging will be necessary.

Wetland Conservation

Wetland Loss: What contributes Development projects

Edits Made So Far:[edit]

Edit #3 Endah: Replacing preservation term with conservation term.
Edit #3 Endah: Adding conservation explanation.
Edit #3 Endah: Adding Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge as an example of recreational destination.
Edit #3 Endah: Adding reference for Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge.
Edit #3 Endah: Deleting the Duck Unlimited since it is already stated in the "private" section.
Scott: (added link to Migratory_bird_act)

Topic: Threats to Wetlands Page: No Page Yet Exists[edit]

We can take information off of this PDF and the pages it links to and create threats to wetlands page.
