Denis Alt (* 21. Oktober 1980 in Kirn) is a German Politician (SPD) and Secretary of State in Ministry of Science and Health Rhineland-Palatinate.

Life and Work

Denis Alt completed his high school diploma at the Emanuel-Felke-Gymnasium in Bad Sobernheim and then studied at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, graduating with a degree in economics (2005). In 2012, Denis Alt received his doctorate with an economic thesis on federalism and decentralization. rer. pole. doctorate. From 2005 to 2014 he worked in various functions for the Rhineland-Palatinate state government, including from 2009 to 2011 as personal advisor and policy advisor to the then State Secretary for Economic Affairs and current Minister for Labor, Social Affairs, Transformation and Digitalization of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate, Alexander Schweitzer. From 2011 to 2014, Denis Alt worked in the Ministry of Finance, most recently as Government Director. He is married, has two children and lives in Bad Sobernheim.

Political Activities

Denis Alt has been a member of the SPD since 1998 and was deputy chairman of the Jusos (youth wing of the SPD) Rhineland-Palatinate from 2003 to 2004. He is a member of the Bad Sobernheim Municipal Council. He has also been parliamentary group leader of the SPD there since 2009. He is also deputy. District chairman of the SPD in the Bad Kreuznach district and member of the district council. He was Peter Wilhelm Dröscher's B candidate and has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament since July 1, 2014. In the 2016 state elections he was able to defend the direct mandate in the Kirn/Bad Sobernheim constituency. He was economic policy spokesman and chairman of the economics and transport working group of the SPD parliamentary group as well as a member of the budget and finance committee.

On March 1, 2019, Denis Alt was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture RLP. In the course of this, he also resigned from his state parliament mandate. Markus Stein took his place.

In the Rhineland-Palatinate state elections in 2021, he was able to regain his direct mandate in the Kirn/Bad Sobernheim constituency.

Denis Alt has been State Secretary in the Ministry of Science and Health of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate since May 18, 2021.

Other Activities

He is also chairman of the Forum for Political Education Nahe-Hunsrück e. V. and an active member of numerous local and regional clubs. Since 2016 he has been a member of the district synod in the Evangelical Church District of An Nahe and Glan.
