Kanhom Sa-nehchan is the old Thai’s sweet dessert which is rare but still is popular until now. It is a yellow rounded shape that is similar to one fruit which called Chan tree. Kanhom Sa-nehchan name’s came from the name of Chan tree (ต้นจันท์). the tree have a fruit that came out like a normal tree but it is beautiful in yellow and the shape is rounded. It smells good too, so the ancient Thai’s people adapted the form, the smell and the taste on to this dessert.


The word Sa-nehchan means fascinating, and together the Sa-nehchan means fortune. The definition of it changes to make people fall in love with the alluring charm of sandalwood. There are Thai people serve the dessert in the wedding ceremony very often.

Ancient story of this dessert says that "a young man harvested bright yellow fruit for his mother. When he brought that fruit to eat for dinner, the fruit was lost, but it still remained the sweet, delight and essential scented. Late that night was a full moon day; He knew that the fruit is gone. With gratitude for his mother, he wanted his mom to taste this fruit so he got back to the tree. He met one woman at the tree and she wants to get the fruit as well. She said that the father would be grateful if he eats the fruits, so both of them get fruits home. After that day, in every full moon day, the young man will go back to the tree and meet the woman. They both will harvest the fruit together. They fell in love and eventually got married.


The charm of this fruit brings happiness and gratitude. The couple took the seeds of this fruit, add the flour, ground rice, beans, eggs, coconut milk and sugar, stir and put together to form the dessert and take them to the wedding. The Legend of the Kanhom Sa-nehchan ‘s charms are still popular as wedding dessert until now.

Ingredients 1 : for the main body of this sweets (yellow part)

  • 60g flour
  • 10g flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • Powder, nutmeg powder, cocoa powder.

Ingredients 2 : for the top part of this sweets (brown part)

  • 1 cup steamed green beans husks.
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


How it is made :

1. Mix two flour together. 2. Mix the cream with the sugar flour mixed with coconut milk and water, then filtered. Add yellow powder, cayenne and Cajun 3.Set the stove in low heat, stirring until later. 4.Add egg yolks, but put the sifted flour. 5.Enough candy mold is heated The sculpture into the brown sugar drops.
