The Project

[edit]

Introduce pronunciation guides to more articles, using IPA syntax, and perhaps plain text guides for those who are unfamiliar with IPA.

Why?

[edit]

There is a severe lack of pronunciation guides in Wikipedia articles, and it is an important part of a definition, especially if the term is long, complex, or originating in a foreign language, etc. An authoritative pronunciation key gives an article a more professional, rounded look.

It is simple to set about tackling groups of related articles to this end, especially ones in fields that employ technical terminology or long words derived from Latin and Greek, for example I have updated all elements in this way, and have started on constellations.
