Green Day have been acused many times for "selling out", claiming to play music they are not and disgracing the Punk scene. Green Day claims to play Punk rock music, but the truth is most Punk rock fans doesn't even consider it as Punk, but Boy band with electric guitars. This, however, gained some support when Green Day admitted themeselves in an interview that their music is Punk pop.
Most Green Day's fans are little girls in the ages of 12 to 16, who are in some way socially rejected and turn into what calls the "hardcore rock music" (as saying "I am an individualist"). This acts are mostly pathetic since nobody cares. Another of Green Day's fans are the Gays society, though Billie Joe Armstrong is Bisexual, and the band's popish music style.
As disgracing the Punk scene, Green Day is wordly approved as "punk" band, and yet are on the covers of mainstream magazines and MTV, which makes the Punk fans cry at night, and to despise even more the Pop culture.
