The Greatest Wild Show in Europe
Starting out in May 2008, the project Wild Wonders of Europe is a nature photography initiative featuring 56 of Europe's leading nature photographers.
The project is all about revealing the amazing natural treasures of Europe - to 700 million Europeans, and to the world.
It is also about the joy of wildness, and to remind us all about why nature matters in our lives - no matter who we are, or where we are - in the country or in the city.
Wild Wonders of Europe is a unique initiative, with a team of dedicated partners and some of the best media in the world.
The project wants to open the eyes of Europeans to the natural treasures on our doorsteps - to enjoy and protect. Also to highlight the great value to our wellbeing from wildness and wild places.
56 of Europe's leading nature photographers will travel to virtually every European country. Each photographer will be given special sites and species to photograph, and each photographer will travel to a country other than his or her own so that everything will be seen with fresh eyes.
Destinations
Virtually every country in Europe will be visited. From the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Mediterranean in the south, from the Atlantic in the west to the Ural Mountains and the Caspian Sea in the east.
Species
Species will be chosen to reflect the variety of species, the biodiversity and richness of habitats that comprise the European natural heritage.
The Outcome
The project will span over a period of at least 5 years, and the outcome will consist of a major European media coverage including;
