My thoughts on translating some wikipedia content
In the process of I edit some wikipedia content, I found that many pages and no Chinese version, this may be because in China, there are not that many people use wikipedia, because we all use Baidu, but I believe that someone still prefer wikipedia cannot find Chinese content they want. This also led me to decide to translate some Chinese versions.
As far as I know, hip-hop culture came into China in 1990s. At that time, there were no real rappers in China. Most of the underground rappers made music at home. Freestyle, imitating some black American rappers. By 2000 s, this situation became better. Some young people held some underground free style competitions. Making music together, let some young people in China heard the form of hip-hop music, also have some knowledge of hip-hop culture. Of course, at this time, some people began to graffiti on the street, and so on. By 2017, hip-hop culture really entered the mainstream market in China, because China has a TV program called The Rap of China, which is very popular in China, it makes many underground rappers onto the mainstream stage. Some young people began to like hip-hop culture, but I don't think many people really understand it. There are very few female hip hop singers in China. As far as I know, there are only two or three famous female rappers. This also means that Chinese hip-hop culture is still the world of male rappers. This is also the purpose of my translation of these Wikipedia content. I hope that Chinese people can see these content, really understand hip-hop culture and hip-hop feminism. Maybe this can make these contents affect the hip-hop market in China and promote the status of feminism in China.
