Santosh Takale (21 July 1976) is an Indian Nuclear Scientist and Mechanical Engineer [1], Science Communicator and Social activist from Maharashtra, India [2]. He has addressed every State and UT of India on topic Scientific Temperament. He has delivered more than 2457 nos of sessions on Science Communication, Scientific Temper/Thinking addressing 974 venues in 289 nos of Districts of India addressing more than 8.5 Lakhs audience [3].

Personal life[edit]

Santosh Takale was born on 21 July 1976 in Shirdhon - small village located near Panvel in Raigad district in Maharashtra, India. It lies on Mumbai Goa National Highway. The nearest Town and Rail Head is Panvel. Karnala fort and Karnala Bird Sanctuary are just 4 km away from Shirdhon [4]. He did his Matriculation in V K High School Panvel, graduated from Dr BATU, Lonere with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1997. He joined the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in September 1997. Since then he is officially and socially associated with Science & Science communication.

Career[edit]

Santosh Takale joined the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in September 1997 after completing his B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering. He is associated with Design, Manufacturing, Welding, QA/QC related to Nuclear Components and Systems. He has obtained certification like IWE (International Welding Engineer), ISNT Level III in Ultrasonic Testing & ASNT-II in RT, ECT, MPT, DPT, VT. He is certified RSO. He has received several awards and honors from various NGO’s. He has published technical papers on Fabrication and Welding [1] [2] [3].

Social Activities[edit]

While working as a Scientific Officer at BARC, Santosh Takale was invited to many educational, social and reformative institutions for interaction and talks, gradually he started focusing on Science Communication and eradication of misconceptions damaging Nature, since last 21 years of sincere and dedicated efforts. He has addressed every State and UT of India on topic Scientific Temperament [3]. He has delivered more than 2457 nos of sessions on Science Communication, Scientific Temper/Thinking, Protection & Conservation of Natural resources addressing 974 venues in 289 nos of Districts of India addressing more than 8 Lakhs audience [6] [7] [8] [9]. Since 1997, he has done every social project with his own fund without any donation from society [5]. In 2007, he founded, self funded NGO’s - SWAR (Sky Watchers Association of Raigad) and TCT (Takale Charitable Trust) to promote “Science communication & Human empowerment”, intended to popularize basic science & technology among masses as well as to develop SCIENTIFIC TEMPERAMENT in the students & general public. His sessions are completely free of cost, social awareness cum educational talks/demonstrations. Lectures are delivered in Marathi, Hindi & English. He is planning to address every district of India before year 2022. He strongly criticize extravagant marriage ceremonies and follow this in his personal life keeping himself away from any ceremony and rituals, which harms nature.
