Article Evaluation:
Article Link: Atlantean figures
Is everything in the article relevant to the article topic?
Yes, the information relates to the locations and possible historical meaning of these figures.
Is there that distracted you?
Nothing in the article was very distracting.
Is the article neutral?
The article did not present any bias, but lacked a lot of factual information. The structure of the article is present, but more details, specifically about the historical and present significance of the figures could be added.
Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?
The authors of this article used several different sources to support their points, but also used a lot of quotations, that I think take away more from the information than help it. Rewriting it in different words would make the article flow better and flesh out the information. The bias present would be from the individual works quoted.
Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented?
Since this article expands more on the political meaning of these figures in the past, their religious meaning seems less important, even though the two are quite possible interlinked.
Check a few citations. Do the links work? Does the source support the claims in the article?
The links work, but some of the sources for this article lack more than one citation.
Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference? Where does the information come from? Are these neutral sources? If biased, is that bias noted?
Many of the facts come from cultural heritage websites. These websites have citations of their own, but some only have one citation. They are mainly fact based.
Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added?
There is not any out of date information that pops out to me, but more up-to-date information could be added about these figure's present-day meaning.
Check out the Talk page of the article. What kinds of conversations, if any, are going on behind the scenes about how to represent this topic?
There are no conversations going on in the talk page.
How is the article rated? Is it a part of any WikiProjects?
This article is a rated of low importance and is not part of any WikiProjects.
How does the way Wikipedia discusses this topic differ from the way we've talked about it in class?
In class, we talked about the different structures of the Mesoamerican cultures and how their religious and political traditions were often linked together. This article, although it mentions both religion and politics, does not explain how the two concepts fit together relating to these figures.
